Kaffee in Wien | Coffee testing trip round the Baltic sea |
|||
We prefer pure coffee, without milk and
without sugar. The best is espresso. In general it is easiest to get espresso coffee in Italy. In the countries on the map espresso coffee is popular in Austria. Typical coffee in Scandinavia is so called "filter coffee" where the hot water drops on the coffee placed on the filter. The coffee is kept warm on the heated plate. and is served in a cup containing 0.25 liter or so. In comparison the-espresso coffee contains 1/5 or 1/10 of the volume of the Scandinavian coffee. Often milk is added to the coffee. |
The evaluation; 5 is the best quality. 1 bad 0 is so bad that is not drinkable. During the trip the worst coffee we got was in Stralsund at McCafe. It tasted as if was made on the mop water. Undrinkable coffee we got on the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn. One of the limitation of our tests is that we don't like much the Scandinavian coffee so we give it max 3 points. 4 and 5 points get only espresso coffee. Since McCafe was established there is chance to get a good coffe. In som countres as in Scandinavia, the McCafe is not common. In Austria, McCafe is using an excellent JAcobs coffee. |

Olomouc: we hoped to get coffee at McDonalds but the establishment did not accept Visa neither Bankomat so we left the town. |

Stockholm: There is quite good coffee there. Our feeling is the the expresso coffee Sweds prefer has a distinct tast of acidity (the coffee tasts "sour"). In contrast the coffee we like in Italy is the one which has dark roast and tasts a bit "bitter", "burned". |
